About the Position Graham Windham seeks an experienced Psychiatrist to provide direct medication and evaluation treatment to children and youth at our Residential Treatment Center. The Psychiatrist will collaborate with RTC staff, youth and parents to ensure the highest quality, diagnostic and treatment planning for our youth.
Perform psychiatric evaluations, assessments and medication management weekly.
Meet regularly with clinical staff to review treatments and outcomes.
Act as a collaborator with the agency Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and all medical staff.
Review and authorize treatment plans.
Contact pharmacists and insurance providers and advocate for medication when necessary.
When medication is warranted the psychiatrist must:
Obtain and review all bloodwork/labs and, when necessary an EKG before prescribing.
Obtain informed consent of the medical consenter (i.e. parent) before prescribing.
Educate staff, youth and parents on treatment
Review recent physical.
Regularly monitor blood pressure and weight.
The psychiatrist should adhere to the standard of prescribing the lowest number of medications necessary using the most effective doses.
Work from the frameworks of practice (Solution Based Casework and Collaborative Problem Solving) utilized at the RTC.
Provide guidance and treatment decisions, placement recommendations and discharge planning
Collaborate with external providers to follow-up on child or youth treatment particularly when youth are admitted for acute psychiatric or respite treatment.
Minimum Qualifications 1. Must be a Licensed Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
