The Bachelor of Social Work field education program at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. Emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist social work practitioners. The internship program is a collaboration between community-based agencies and the university; providing sites where students can integrate the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom into professional settings. We are currently seeking candidates with experience in social work supervision, training, teaching, and program administration who are committed to BSW education and to a collaborative relationship between field supervisors and agencies. The BSW Coordinator of Field Education will provide administrative oversight and support to students, field instructors, and field liaisons. Experience in higher education preferred.
Description: Twelve month clinical faculty position in a thriving, urban, CSWE accredited, Bachelor of Social Work program. As clinical faculty, duties include responsibility for the implementation of the BSW field education program, including student placement, site supervision, field instructor training, and development of field internship sites, with half-time teaching responsibilities in field seminar. Other courses as assigned, depending on workload. Experience in higher education preferred, with familiarity in BSW education strongly desirable.
Specialization: Field Education and Supervision, Teaching, Administrative Skills, Clinical Practice, and/or Macro Practice
Responsibilities: •Teach field seminar and other courses in area of expertise. •Liaison with student field internship sites. •In coordination with the Director of Field Education, coordinate student placement, field administration, field instructor training, site supervision, student supervision, and development and oversite of field sites. •Assist in student advising, program assessment and student admissions. •Assist in training and development activities for field instructors and community partners. •Participation in the life of and service to the department and greater university community. •Contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise to advance the social work profession. •Work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites as indicated for role.
Level: Clinical Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited social work program, LCSW, with minimum five years of experience as an agency field instructor/supervisor. Administrative/program development experience desired. Prior teaching/training experience strongly preferred. Basic computer skills required.
Experience: Strong leadership, training, clinical, supervision, program development, inter-professional collaboration, and community engagement skills. Ability to adapt to fast-paced environment, with strong organizational skills required.
Workload: Twelve month contract, full-time.
