The University of Saint Mary is seeking a dynamic licensed professional counselor to provide counseling and crisis intervention for students as well as consultation to faculty and staff who are concerned about the mental health of a student. The Counselor will serve on the campus CARE Team and provide regular outreach to the campus community in the form of workshops, guest lectures and other wellness events at the university level. In addition to direct service, this role includes administrative and collaborative duties. This position is full-time during the academic year in addition to flexible summer scheduling for meetings, planning and appointments during the months of June and July.”
Provide counseling and crisis stabilization for students who request services or are referred by faculty or staff.
Meet with students in crisis and coordinate referrals for appropriate level of treatment.
Coordinate student transitions from university services to the external community if necessary (e.g. psychiatric/psychological treatment services, alcohol/drug/addiction treatment service, return to parental care).
Communicate with staff, parents, families or designated emergency contacts regarding emergencies including hospitalizations and other crises to help facilitate success on campus, or transition back to campus if possible, when issues are appropriately resolved for care. When designated, accompany student to the receiving treatment facility or hospital.
Develop and maintain a database of community resources that can be utilized by mental health clinicians, physicians as well as campus partners seeking referrals.
Maintain complete, accurate, timely case notes.
Serve as referral coordinator for students in need of resources off campus.
Attend interdepartmental case management and committee meetings as assigned by supervisor.
Develop and present workshops for staff, faculty and students on mental health and other topics.
Assist in parent orientation and student leader trainings.
Consult regularly with assigned key campus partners regarding services, access and care for students.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus agencies and community providers.
Coordinate specialty services on campus for student groups who would benefit from group programs.
Serve on the Coordinated Community Response Team and CARE Team.
Accessible after hours in the event of an emergency.
Maintain visibility on campus by attending various events to build relationships with students, faculty and staff.
Master’s Degree Required.
A minimum of one year related experience.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; strong organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Must be a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) by the State of Kansas.
