Witt/Kieffer is excited to partner with Riverside Health System (RHS) in Newport News, VA in their identification of a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Riverside Regional Medical Center (RRMC). The 450-bed flagship facility of RHS, also located in Newport News, sits on 72 acres and is the Virginia Peninsula’s most comprehensive medical facility, combining the most recent technology with a healing environment.

Physicians in Service Line Chief positions will report to the CMO for those components of care delivered in the Medical Center. A Vice President of Medical Affairs has accountability for credentialing and peer review and will also report into the new CMO. Administrative partners for the CMO are the Chief Executive and Chief Nursing Officers.
RHS consists of five acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital in partnership with Select Medical, a long-term acute care hospital, also in partnership with Select Medical, a behavioral health hospital, four PACE centers for the elderly, three continuing care communities, nine long-term care facilities, two wellness centers and the region’s leading home care and hospice organization. The Riverside Medical Group includes more than 550 specialists, primary care providers and advanced practice providers.
The CMO will hold the accountability and responsibility for the prioritization of quality improvement opportunities. S/he will facilitate Hospital-wide medical staff integration; advance the adoption of evidence-based medicine care protocols and empower Service Line Chiefs in the improvement of quality and clinical outcomes. S/he will create a safety first, respectful culture which advances an environment of professionalism.
