The Lead Security officer position provides supervisory assistance to the Director of Security in regarding Safety and Security. Responsibilities include organizational planning, staffing, audits, surveys, in-depth investigations. Performs as a working lead officer, carrying out duties of a Security Officer while supervising other Security Officers.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Valid New Mexico Driver's License; BLS required within 2 weeks of hire, SAMA (Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression) is required within 60 days of hire. The State of New Mexico Security Guard Level I license within 60 days and the New Mexico Security Guard Level II license within 90 days. Successful completion of IAHSS Security Course and IAHSS Security Supervisors course required within (1) one year.
Ability to speak, listen, develop and communicate written materials

Knowledge of the law, good judgment and decision making skills required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum (2) two years Healthcare/Public safety supervisory experience required. Law enforcement experience preferred and previous healthcare security experience preferred

ENVIRONMENT: The Lead Security Officers function is subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Emergency and crisis circumstances, irregular working hours and exposure to aggressive behavior occur regularly
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to stressful professional relationships.Working hours vary, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Prolong walking, standing or running up or down stairwells during emergency situations. Must be physically able to assist in restraining an average adult, weighing approximately 150 pounds. Will be required to respond to, and monitor, potentially dangerous/violent or escalating situations with proper intervention and techniques to ensure safety of all persons concerned.
