This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more The Senior Social Worker (PCAFC) position is assigned to the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital (JAHVH) system, Tampa, FL. The position supports the program of Comprehensive Assistance to Family Caregiver (PCAFC). The program goal is to support caregivers in their role and promote their health and well-being through education, therapeutic engagement, and resource and service linkage. The Senior Social Worker (PCAFC) requires advanced knowledge and understanding of veterans' and caregivers' services and benefits from federal, state, and private sector resources. As a member of the interdisciplinary PCAFC assessment team, the clinical assessor participates in face-to-face or virtual contact with the caregiver and veteran to assess functions and the need for personal care services. The Senior Social Worker (PCAFC) is assigned to the Caregiver Support Program (CSP) to provide specialized consultation on the administrative and clinical considerations of the CSP as referenced in VHA Directive 1152. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: The incumbent participates in direct caregiver and veteran wellness contacts to assess caregiver stress/burden and the development/application of directed clinical treatment interventions. The incumbent facilitates caregiver and family clinical intervention treatments of caregiver stress, psychiatric illness, emotional distress, and social needs. The incumbent is responsible for conducting regular home visits to veterans and caregivers participating in the PCAFC, responding to calls from the National Caregiver Support Hotline, responding to other phone calls, and general inquiries regarding the CSP assists with general tasks associated with the program. The incumbent provides ongoing consultation and support to colleagues regarding caregiver support services and issues facing veterans, families, and caregivers. The incumbent is responsible for creating educational tools, developing programs, implementing training focused on specific caregiver needs/issues, and providing education and in-service training to VAMC employees, veterans, families, and caregivers. The incumbent has the ability to independently operate a government-owned motor vehicle and drive cumulative long distances (up to several hundreds of miles) per workweek.
