The Social Worker is assigned to the Substance Abuse Outpatient Program (SAOP) and is responsible for providing comprehensive services to substance use disorder diagnosed patients and their families. The Social Worker provides extensive consultation and services to the interdisciplinary treatment team. The SAOP-SUD Social Worker is responsible for completing intake interviews with patients/families or significant others to assist with treatment planning; providing, as primary therapist, individual counseling, group therapy, and family counseling/support. Also, serves as an active liaison with other outpatient clinics within and between the SAOP and treatment programs outside the medical center including community resources.
