Work involves intensive mental health counseling services requiring the exercise of mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical practice skills. The therapist provides counseling services in serious, complex and complicated cases often referred by other disciplines or multidisciplinary team members. Carries full professional responsibility for cases presenting a wide range of biopsychosocial and environmental problems. Provides evidence-based therapy to veterans and, when appropriate, family members. The work requires extreme patience and controlling of emotions. Individuals may be required to use appropriate techniques to physically restrain veterans who present danger to self or others. May require assisting physically disabled veterans. Develops working relationships with community agencies and other governmental agencies, often serving as the VA liaison or contact person. Exercise good judgement to maintain professional standards of service for coordination of individual, group, and family interventions, and may begin conducting individual, group, and family individual counseling. Selection of appropriate treatment interventions based on the veteran's needs and ability to respond to such treatment. Utilizes a variety of fact-finding and data analysis techniques. Utilizes a variety of techniques for data collection, workload capture and practice review and evaluation. Advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with possible co-occurring polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, etc. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
