VA Boston Healthcare System Social Work Service is seeking a Social Worker for the HUDVASH program. The position is located at the Jamaica Plain Campus. The incumbent functions within the Department of Housing & Urban Development-Veterans Administration Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program at the VA Boston Healthcare System to provide Veterans experiencing homelessness and their families with intensive and comprehensive housing search, move-in and housing retention services, case management, clinical treatment, supportive services, advocacy and coordination of appropriate VA and community services. This is accomplished in collaboration with other members of the HUD-VASH Program's multidisciplinary team, and, when needed, Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program Staff, community providers, and VA interdisciplinary treatment team members including Primary Care, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Specialty Clinics as well as providers from other federal, state and local agencies. The HUD-VASH Social Worker gathers and reports statistical and administrative data and serves as the primary liaison with the local participating Public Housing Authorities that provide the Section 8 Housing Choice HUD-VASH vouchers . The Social Worker provides these services throughout the cities and towns located within the Greater Boston and Brockton catchment areas of the VA Boston Healthcare System. This position is covered by locality-based comparability pay. Travel and relocation expenses are not authorized. Selectee may be required to work at any Boston Healthcare System campus, as needed. This position is in the Excepted Service. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held. Narrative responses to the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) will be required from the selectee in order to proceed with the appointment.
