We serve the population of Durham and surrounding counties who have Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. The Duke Outpatient Clinic also houses an innovative intensive case management program which is a collaborative effort between medicine faculty, medicine-psychiatry faculty, nurse practitioners, nurse case managers, and social workers. The clinic enjoys on-site collaborative care with pharmacy services, endocrinology, diabetology, cardiology, physical therapy, palliative care, and dermatology. Our multidisciplinary team is well resourced to support those in the highest need in our community.
The Medical Director serves in a core capacity in the clinic and in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Responsibilities in this role reflect the broad connectivity between our clinical, educational, and community service missions.
The Medical Director is responsible for leading bi-monthly leadership meetings, overseeing our clinical productivity and compliance, managing collaborations with community partners and research partners, and improving day-to-day operations and workflow in the clinic space. The Medical Director will solicit and review feedback on clinic operations from administrative staff, nursing staff, pharmacists, social workers, attendings, and residents. The Medical Director will also have the opportunity to be a residency advisor to a small number of residents, over the three years of their training.
