Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. ESH invites applications for the position of Chief Nurse Executive.
The Chief Nurse Executive will provide leadership and overall supervision to the Nursing Department. This position is responsible for the provision of safe and competent Nursing Care; for accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Hospital and the Nursing Job Descriptions and classifications. The Chief Nurse Executive will provide supervision to the Assistant Chief Nurse Executives, Infection Control Nurse, Nurse Educator and Administrative Specialists.
Successful candidate should possess:
- In-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, techniques, theories and functions of psychiatric nursing.
- Executive management skills, mature interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of budget and administration.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor established policies, procedures, law, rules and regulations, guidelines and standards within the area of responsibility for clinical and non-clinical staff which influences management practices.
- Knowledgeable of The Joint Commission (TJC) Standards related to nursing and overall hospital accreditation as well as CMS standards and requirements.
This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.
Required:
• Current Virginia license to practice as a Registered Nurse or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement accepted.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing (in accordance with CMS regulations).
• Experience in Psychiatric Nursing.
• Experience in nursing management, particularly supervising large numbers of personnel.
Preferred:
• Experience in a large hospital and/or psychiatric inpatient facility preferred.
• Experience in a large hospital and/or psychiatric inpatient facility with demonstrated effectiveness in management, supervision, teaching and consultation of many varied nursing disciplines preferred.
