Position Summary:
The Designated Mental Health Professional (Co-responder) works as a member of a team within Behavioral Health and is embedded with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department responsible for performing crisis intervention, involuntary evaluations, and stabilization and diversion services to reduce hospitalizations, and effectively link consumers with on-going mental support services. The incumbent performs duties in accordance with department policies, procedures, State and federal guidelines and protocols provided by the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR); educates and provides information for families; collects data, updates databases and keeps records.
Work is performed to provide 24/7 coverage typically for substance use consumers and their natural and professional support systems to manage their crisis in the community under the direction and supervision of an assigned administrative superior and in collaboration with the Captain and lieutenant in the Tacoma Police Department.
Minimum Requirements:
Three (3) years of experience in a Mental Health setting required. Ability to obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration upon hire
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist is preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field or a Registered Nurse with BA or above education required
Must be mental health professional in accordance with WAC 388-865-0150
Current Washington Drivers License and reliable transportation required
