This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Education: Hold a master's or doctoral degree in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Examples of related mental health counseling fields include, but are not limited to Addiction Counseling; Community Counseling; Gerontology Counseling; Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to LPMHC positions in the GS-0101 series in VHA must hold full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, which includes diagnosis and treatment. NOTE: It is VHA policy that a LPMHC who does not yet have a license that allows independent practice must be supervised by a licensed independent practitioner of the same discipline who is a VA staff member and who has access to the electronic health record. The incumbent serves as Supervisory Professional Mental Health Counselor on the multidisciplinary team that is located in a community-based Vet Center that provides veterans with community outreach, counseling, therapy, treatment and direct services and referral to VA and community resources and community education regarding the problems and needs of the Veteran. Duties include but not limited to: Ensures that the Vet Center operates in an efficient manner that ensures good patient care. Budget management, clinical staff supervision, compliance to applicable RCS and VHA policy is performed on a routine basis. Responsible for staff selection, education and career development. Provides clinical, professional, and administrative supervision to the clinical staff of the Vet Center, to include evaluating staff performance. Provides screening/assessment of Veteran clients, treatment planning and goal setting, referral to service providers, development of a resource file, Veteran advocacy, crisis intervention, education/health promotion, coordination of non-institutional and institutional services, and individual/group counseling. Develops, implements, and measures market penetration of Vet Center services through a comprehensive outreach plan for the primary service area of the Vet Center.
