Company DescriptionGreater Lakes Seeley Lake Lodge is a 20-bed voluntary in-patient unit that provides behavioral healthcare and recovery-oriented treatment. We are conveniently located close to the Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare Main Building, near the intersection of Bridgeport and Gravelly Lake Drive at 9330 59th Ave SW in Lakewood, WA. Position Summary & Mission Residential Counselors are individuals who are well grounded and able to model competency in ongoing coping skills. They help clients identify goals that promote recovery and assist them in identifying services and activities to help reach these goals. Assist clients in obtaining, maintaining, and/or using appropriate mental health, general health, and other community resources relevant to their goals. Provide counseling, outreach, crisis intervention assistance, stabilization assistance; assist and support use of medical, community and natural supports, and facilitate psycho-education groups/classes. All services are provided under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional. In addition, this position also requires the following knowledge and skills: knowledge of mental disorders and substance abuse issues, effective counseling skills, ability to assess and teach independent living skills, good interpersonal communication skills, and good computer-user skills. Prefer knowledge of Pierce County public mental health system, community resources, and recovery-based and trauma-informed models of care. Prefer having reliable personal auto, driver's license, good driving record, and personal auto insurance. Prefer AA degree in social services related field and 1 year experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Responsibilities Serve as a "recovery coach" to clients, collaborating with the client and their clinician to develop an effective service plan to support the client's goals and clinical Treatment Plan. Manages all required paperwork and records and prepares documentation (forms, reports, etc.) when needed Helps clients attain their goals, providing hope and motivation, as clients heal and develop resiliency Provides one-on-one counseling and community resource information Qualifications Minimum education and experience as specified in the job description Current mental health credential from the state Department of Health (DOH) or is eligible for the DOH Agency Affiliated Counselor credential Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills Knowledge of community resources Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications Current Safe Food Handler certificate
