Position Summary: The Vocational Specialist provides services to adults whose employability or job adjustment is impaired by physical, mental, behavioral or other impairment conditions to prepare them for work activities and/or jobs in their communities. The Specialist facilitates the provision of essential and available services for an assigned client case load throughout the balance of vocational rehabilitation to the point of satisfactory employment adjustment; finds suitable employment opportunities; maintains day-to-day contact with employers, placement specialists, and others; maintains awareness of job and small business opportunities; arranges for and enters individual clients into training to prepare them for work activities; motivates and promotes growth and innovation within the program.The work may include evenings, weekends and back-up coverage for other staff. Successful background check results through Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Background Check Central Unit (BCCU) is required at time of hire and every year thereafter. Must have reliable, safe vehicle available to transport clients and travel for program needs
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related field OR equivalent experience working with people with developmental disabilities or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree Current "Healthcare Provider" CPR card from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 30-days of hire Current Washington State Driver's License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state agency
