This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Preferred Experience: Military sexual trauma experience preferred. Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-12 (1) Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. (2) Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. (3) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures. Developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing services for MST. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities. Technical assistance provided to monitor activities and program reviews, and the development and analysis of information. Uses sound judgment in the interpretation of trends and patterns; the application of guidelines; and the recommendation of program enhancements. Performs program analysis, development, review, research, design and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.). Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs. Responsible for key project activities related to the planning, development, and implementation of the project component. Workload directed by this position will be carried out at one or more locations that are physically removed from the main unit under conditions that make day-to-day supervision difficult to administer. Involvement with program evaluation. Monitoring overall patient treatment needs. Performance measures in mental health. Participating in systems redesign projects to ensure programming is updated to meet patient needs as well as national guidelines. Provide emergency/crisis intervention services to outpatients experiencing acute psychological crises related to MST. Assisting in the referral arrangements, or assistance into a residential/psychiatric facility for inpatient care if necessary, and providing follow up care as needed. Familiar with PTSD evidenced-based treatments and treatment planning. Attend training, and complete the consultation requirements for any/all of the following: Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (CBCT-PTSD), and deliver these therapies as part of the standard work for this position. Provides direct patient care in the form of group and individual psychotherapy, resource, referral and case management when appropriate. Spends 60% of their time in clinical care and 40% inadministrative tasks. Performs other related duties as assigned.
