The Social Science Program Coordinator (Health Coach) provides integral support to Veterans in navigating the Whole Health Journey, specifically through the Pathway, wellbeing, and Whole Health clinical care elements of the Whole Health System, as well as assisting in the collection of whole health qualitative data from Veterans and creation of reports analyzing effectiveness of health coaching To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/27/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5 level. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Basic Requirements: Social Science (GS-101) Occupational Requirements - The basic requirements for this occupation can be met by possessing one of the following: Education - 4 year degree in behavioral or social science or related discipline. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR Experience - 4 years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. GS-7: The GS-7 Grade requirements for this occupation can be met by possessing one of the following: Specialized Experience - 1 year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of this position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled: Comprehensive knowledge of whole health quality improvement measures; Knowledge of appropriate policies, directives, operating procedures, information flow, and automated practices in government agencies; Skill in retrieving tracking, and evaluating health coaching related information to find trends; Operational knowledge of eligibility, enrollment, income assessment, and insurance regulations; Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient programs, operations, admissions, scheduling, sharing agreements and travel; Operational knowledge of laws and regulations relating to the protection of private medical information; Knowledge of health coaching structure, processes, skills, and techniques' Knowledge of ethical code and rules of conduct for health coaches; Knowledge of information security principles and methods OR Graduate Education - 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. ["Major Duties; Develops information for Veterans about the Whole Health Group and Individual Programs. Conducts outreach activities to inform Veterans and family members of available programs. Provides educational opportunities for staff-including lunch and learns, grand rounds, and presentations at staff meetings-in order to promote health coaching and encourage referrals to these services. Meets with external stakeholders to provide information about the Whole Health Group and individual programs and access to Veterans. Collaborates with internal and external resources for supporting the Veteran's Whole Health Journey by developing resource lists for well-being support within the facility and in the local community. Develops and conducts onsite educational series for enrolled Veterans, family members, and VA employees to explain health coaching, including its uses and benefits. Participates in health fairs in the community. Develops and distributes locally approved health education materials to identified enrolled Veterans and family members. Serves on Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces specifically relating to Whole Health or Health Coaching. Represents Primary Care or Patient Centered Care/Whole Health on decision-making committees within the Healthcare System. Participates in leadership roles on local, state and/or national professional organizations specific to health coaching. Represents the Health Care System at professional programs and/or events, or on VA or community committees or work groups addressing health coaching, including where relevant to addressing issues of culturally competent services, and routinely participates in national VHA conference calls and audio conferences on these and other issues such as motivational interviewing and other behavioral interventions to promote health. Assists with data management analyses, special studies, and reports for use by management for budget preparation, workload projections, and quality assurance and utilization reviews. Participates in the establishment of administrative standards locally; the objective of which is intended to improve programs, facilities and operations. Maintains a close working relationship with various program officials. Coordinates and provides recommendations in the application of standards that affect the service. Provides training and troubleshooting for other health coaches in health coaching administrative processes and associated supporting issues. Performs other related duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
